Development

Curricular Development

DEC’s curricular development process includes:
1. Identifying needs of school/district as it relates to legislation (Teachers, students, administrators, community).

2. Assess needs of learners (Teachers and students).

3. Create specific and measurable goals (Parents, teachers, high schools, business leaders).

4. Determine the strategies that will be used to meet objectives (Teachers, high schools, business leaders).

5. Implement changes (Teachers and students).

6. Analysis and Feedback (All).

Multi-cultural Sensitivity

DEC understands the need for schools, administrators, and teachers to engage in multi-cultural sensitivity training. Our sessions demonstrate why administrators and educators must value, incorporate, and manage the diverse populations of their schools, both of students, parents, and the community.  DEC assists in individuals and schools understanding the differences between race and ethnicity, what comprises culture, and how these understandings influence values, perception, and behavior. Additionally, DEC will help facilitate brainstorming for site-specific management, in order to eradicate prejudices that may inhibit effective communication and academic achievement.

Classroom Management

For some educators, grading is not the greatest challenge. The greatest challenge, and the one that many lose on Day One, is classroom management. DEC will provide teachers with a management toolbox to understand that the end of classroom management is not to control a student, but to so design a classroom and lessons, that students are too engaged in learning to explode.

New Teacher Training

DEC provides a two-fold new teacher training approach. For the new teacher, DEC provides a skill and knowledge base of best-practices, backed by research and data. For the administrator, DEC provides feedback techniques that will elicit behaviors and practices necessary for a smoothly operating school.

Parenting

Parents have the most difficult and most important job in the world. However, we realize that some may need more help than others in the areas of time-management, life-work balance, discipline, spirituality, health, and nutrition. DEC does not claim to own the patent on perfect parenting, but we have designed workshops for the young parent, the older parent, and parents who are seeking more ideas to improve their relationships with their children.
